Namo Shetkari Maha Samman Nidhi (NMSMN) is Maharashtra’s state-level farmer income support scheme that runs alongside PM-KISAN. Under PM-KISAN, central government pays Rs 6,000 per year to farmers. Under Namo Shetkari, Maharashtra state government adds another Rs 6,000 per year. Combined, Maharashtra farmers receive Rs 12,000 per year: Rs 1,000 per month.
The 8th instalment of Rs 2,000 under Namo Shetkari was approved in March 2026. The Rs 1,774 crore fund was released for approximately 90 lakh Maharashtra farmers.
How the Two Schemes Work Together
PM-KISAN (central): Rs 6,000 per year in three instalments of Rs 2,000 each. Paid in April, August, and December.
Namo Shetkari (state): Rs 6,000 per year in three instalments of Rs 2,000 each. Released by Maharashtra government, timed to roughly coincide with PM-KISAN releases.
Both go to the same farmer, into the same Aadhaar-linked bank account, through separate DBT transactions.
You do not apply separately for Namo Shetkari if you are already receiving PM-KISAN. The state uses the PM-KISAN beneficiary database to identify eligible farmers.
Who Is Eligible
Any farmer in Maharashtra who is receiving PM-KISAN is automatically eligible for Namo Shetkari. The PM-KISAN database is used as the source list.
If your PM-KISAN stopped, due to e-KYC being pending, land records mismatch, or family member being a government employee, your Namo Shetkari payment will also stop. The two are linked at the data level.
How to Check Your 8th Instalment Status
At pmkisan.gov.in: Log in with your Aadhaar or mobile number. Check the “Beneficiary Status” section. If PM-KISAN shows as paid, Namo Shetkari should also reflect within a few days.
At Maharashtra government portal: The state agriculture department also maintains a beneficiary status check at nsmn.mahaagri.gov.in or through the district agriculture office online.
Through your bank passbook: Credit shows as two separate entries, one from central (PM-KISAN) and one from state (Namo Shetkari), on separate dates.
If You Are Receiving PM-KISAN but Not Namo Shetkari
This can happen if your land records in the state register do not match the central PM-KISAN database. Maharashtra’s 7/12 (Satbara) land extract is the key document.
Fix: Visit your nearest agriculture office (Krishi Vibhag) with your 7/12 Satbara extract and PM-KISAN beneficiary print. Ask them to manually flag the mismatch. Correction typically takes one payment cycle to reflect.
PM-KISAN e-KYC: Still Mandatory
If your PM-KISAN e-KYC is pending, you will miss both PM-KISAN and Namo Shetkari payments. e-KYC is done at pmkisan.gov.in using Aadhaar OTP or face authentication, or at any CSC through biometric verification.

The Kisan Credit Card Connection
Maharashtra farmers receiving Namo Shetkari are prioritised for Kisan Credit Card (KCC) sanction. KCC gives a revolving crop loan at 4% interest (7% rate minus 3% government subvention). If you do not have a KCC yet, the Namo Shetkari DBT history in your bank account works as income proof for KCC approval.

And for farmers who also took a farm loan in Maharashtra under the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Shetkari Karjmafi Yojana (farm loan waiver scheme), check whether your Namo Shetkari payments were correctly applied to the outstanding balance. Details on that waiver are at indiansouls.in/maharashtra-farm-loan-waiver/.
What the 9th Instalment Looks Like
If PM-KISAN 23rd instalment (expected June-July 2026) is released on schedule, the 9th Namo Shetkari instalment should follow within 4-6 weeks. The state releases Namo Shetkari after verifying PM-KISAN releases to avoid double-payment risks.
Watch for an official announcement from the Maharashtra government’s agriculture department or the Chief Minister’s office.
